History
The club was founded on November 2, 1909 , named after the hero of Argentina, José de San Martín .
San Martin (Tucuman) was a member of the elite division of Argentina (Nacional) in 1968 - 1985 , as well as in the seasons 1988/89 and 1991/92. On November 20, 1988, San Martin achieved its biggest victory in history, defeating the legendary Boca Juniors 6-1 in Buenos Aires .
As a result of the 2007/2008 season, the club again secured the right to participate in Example A of Argentina. It is noteworthy that in the same season the team of the same name from the city of San Juan left the elite after spending only a year there. Since 2011, the team once again performs in Torneo Argentino A, the third highest level division of the championship of Argentina.
