José Díaz Ramos ( Spanish: José Díaz Ramos , May 3, 1895 , Seville , Spain - March 20, 1942 , Tbilisi , USSR ) - Spanish trade union leader, general secretary of the Communist Party of Spain in 1932 - 1942 . He led the Communist Party during the Civil War in Spain , not holding public office.

Biography
The son of a worker, worked as a baker. As a member of the anarcho-syndicalist trade union movement ( NKT ), he was an active participant in the labor movement of Seville. Repeatedly went to jail. In 1926 he joined the Communist Party of Spain and led the Andalusian party organization. In 1932 he was elected party secretary general.
In December 1938, Diaz, who had stomach cancer , moved to the USSR for treatment. Was operated on in Leningrad. He worked in Moscow at the secretariat of the Communist International . After the start of World War II, he was evacuated. During an attack of illness, unable to withstand the pain, in 1942 he committed suicide in Tbilisi, having thrown himself out of a window.
With great honors, he was buried at the Veri cemetery in Tbilisi [1]
