He lived in Sicily . In 1617, in Militello published a treatise "Chess game", which in 1822 was translated into English . Explored openings and endgames . The name in the royal gambit is named after Carrera: 1. e4 e5 2. f4 e: f4 3. Фe2 .
In the same treatise, Carrera described a version of chess named after him in which combined figures (in addition to the queen) were possibly used for the first time: a Champion combining the capabilities of a horse and a rook , and a Centaur combining the functions of a horse and an elephant . Castling is absent. The rules for turning a pawn are unknown (presumably into a queen or also into a champion and a centaur). In the 20th century, a similar version of chess was proposed by Capablanca .
