Yaws can be embedded inside other Erlang-based programs, or run as a fully standalone web server.

Due to the fact that Yaws uses the concept of lightweight processes from the Erlang language, it makes it possible to use a large number of them with high competitiveness. Tests conducted in 2002 comparing Yaws and Apache showed that Apache 2.0.39 with MPM “worker” does not withstand the load of 4,000 simultaneous connections, while Yaws continues to work with 80,000 simultaneous connections. [2]

  • Note: from version 1.80 a native installer for Windows is available.
