Campaigns

The game features 3 campaigns in which, over 14 missions, the player has to control different heroes: a fighter of the 82nd Airborne Division, a soldier of the 1st Canadian Army and a paratrooper of the British 6th Airborne Division.

Missions

The tasks presented are diverse: the capture of buildings, the retention of defense, the destruction of artillery and armored vehicles. There is also a mission in which the pilot must defend the B-24 bomber.

  • US Campaign: Altavilla, Scavenger Hunt, Glider Crash, Lucky Thirteen, Nijmegen, Hunner Park, River Crossing
  • Canadian Campaign: Woensdrecht, Sloedam, Walcheren, Reichswald
  • UK Campaign: Arnhem Fire, Arnhem Assault, Rhine Crossing

In Call of Duty, the player does not fulfill the role of a single-player rambo - most often he is supported by several allied soldiers. However, most of the killings, of course, will be his share. All missions are built on scripts - most of the key events do not occur until the player takes any action (most often, he will run forward, starting the attack). Moreover, in most missions, enemy soldiers will appear again and again until the next stage of the script is launched. Therefore, the tactics of sitting out in a secluded place or shooting from afar the Nazis with a sniper rifle in most cases will be useless - the ammunition is not infinite, unlike enemy soldiers.

Weapons

The game offers a wide range of weapons, but at a time the player can only carry 2 types with him (not including fragmentation grenades, 4 pieces each). Weapons and fragmentation grenades can be picked up directly from the killed enemies. In addition to portable weapons in battle, stationary machine guns ( Browning M2 and MG 42 ) and artillery can be used. The player also has binoculars, which in one of the missions will be needed to direct artillery fire. Some missions will require the use of magnetic mines and explosives to neutralize enemy armored vehicles, destroy artillery and undermine bunker doors.

Characters

All key characters (for example, squad leaders) are in principle immortal (if their death is not part of the plot), and secondary soldiers playing the role of extras are "generated" again in most missions after death.
