History
The station was built in 1962 as part of the Oktyabrskaya section - New Cheryomushki , but because of the difficult geological conditions that prevented the escalator from tilting and the expected low passenger traffic until the extension of the Kaluga radius to the center, it opened only on November 5, 1980 . She became the 115th station of the Moscow Metro.
During the construction of the station made a number of archaeological finds. Ancient pottery made of white Gzhel clay - a dish with bright colored glaze, smooth and embossed tiles with artwork, as well as a clay children's toy - bird whistle. The finds are kept in the collection of the Museum of History and Reconstruction of Moscow [1] . The Shabolovskaya interior was changed to the opening, so its architectural solution is not similar to the architecture of other stations of the site.
Architecture and layout
“Shabolovskaya” is a deep-laid pylon station (depth - 46.5 meters) with three vaults. Built according to the design of architects I. G. Petukhova and V. P. Kachurints . The diameter of the central hall is 8.5 meters. Pylons are trimmed with light Koelga marble [2] ; track walls are lined with corrugated aluminum . The floor is lined with gray granite “rebirth”, two red stripes on which pylons stand are lined with red granite “german” [2] . The design of the station is dedicated to television and radio broadcasting (there is a television center near Shabolovskaya); Thus, a stained-glass window made of colored glass (the work of A.N. Kuznetsov ) at the end of the central hall depicts the Shukhov Tower .
The length of the central hall is 104 meters (instead of the standard 162), which is why the station can be considered the only deep foundation shortened in the Moscow Metro (the stations with halls of 35–40 meters " Lubyanka " and " Chistye Prudy " were rebuilt in due time). The average length of the remaining stations of a similar type, having only one exit, is 145 meters.
Location and Lobbies
The ground lobby (architects - N. I. Demchinsky and Yu. A. Kolesnikov ) is located on Shabolovka Street (from the lobby you can also go to Academician Petrovsky Street ). Connected to the station hall by escalator slope .
