History

In April 2001, student enthusiasts issued the first issue of the Aktsiya newspaper with a circulation of 999 copies (at different times the circulation of the newspaper ranged from 10 to 300 thousand copies) . From the first issue, the Promotion was free and distributed in universities, cafes, cinemas, etc. At the beginning, the newspaper was published once a month or two months, over time, the frequency of production was increased to two times a month, before closing again it came out once every month.

It was positioned independent of the state, political parties, did not belong to large media holdings and existed on the money of advertisers. The word “share” in the name of the newspaper had two meanings: a security (founding students studied the securities market, and the newspaper was invented as one of the projects of the Youth Financial Center) and action (political action, public action, environmental action).

In 2004-2005, the newspaper wrote about youth activism, including about young politicians (the Politmolodnyak column) - interviews were published with Ilya Yashin, Ilya Ponomarev, Roman Dobrokhotov, Maria Gaidar, and materials about the political debate held by Alexey Navalny .

In February 2005 (after the Ukrainian "Orange Revolution"), in contrast to the Aktsiya newspaper, the youth newspaper Re: Aktsiya began to be published. “Re: share” was published in a large circulation and distributed primarily in the Russian regions, so at one time “Share” was confused with “Re: share” .

Since 2008, the newspaper has chosen Young People of the Year (every December for 5 years: 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012) - those who are not 30 years old, who have changed something in their field over the past year ( nominations: politics, society, media, science, music, cinema, sports, etc.) .

"Action" was an experiment, a platform for beginning editors, journalists and designers. At different times Igor Sadreev (later the editor-in-chief of The Village and Esquire magazine), Alexey Ametov (publisher of Look At Media ), Yegor Timofeev (PR director of RBC ), Lisa Birger (book commentator for Kommersant newspaper), Anna Gileva (co-organizer of the Moscow Pec-Kuchi, curator of "Theories and Practices"), Konstantin Lukyanov (art director of The Art Newspaper Russia), Alexander Perepelkin (co-founder of the Lunar Hare PR agency) and many others.

Rewards

The newspaper received more than 20 awards in the all-Russian contest "Newspaper Design" (2003-2010) .

2007 - Prize of the Union of Russian Journalists in the nomination "Publication against Nazism and Xenophobia" - for a special issue dedicated to Georgia and Georgians .

2008, 2009 - The Promotion received the World's Best-Designed Newspaper Award for 2007 and 2008 at the international competition of the World Society for News Design SND ( Society for News Design ). SND Competition is the main professional competition for newspaper designers all over the world. In the entire history of the SND contest, only The New York Times (USA), The Independent on Sunday (Great Britain), Die Zeit (Germany), Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (Germany) received the award twice. Record (Mexico), The Guardian (Great Britain), Expresso (Portugal), Welt am Sonntag (Germany).

2010 - World Young Reader Prize - an international prize awarded for work with young readers by the World Newspaper Association ( WAN-IFRA ). "Promotion" received two awards : the main prize in the Research nomination for the rating of “50 Dream Employers for Young Professionals” and the “Promotion. Career” application, as well as the jury’s mention for the free book project “Promotion. Exchanger . "
