Biography
Born April 15, 1958 in Minsk . In 1986 he graduated from the Minsk Radio Engineering Institute . He worked as a setup engineer at a computer factory, in the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR . In the early 1990s, he changed his occupation, imported domestic and professional radio electronics. He traveled a lot in the North, Siberia, Kazakhstan, the Far East, Western Europe and the UAE, and was a successful businessman.
In the mid-1990s, the type of activity drastically changed, turning to the search for information about his uncle who was shot by the Bolsheviks, beloved student of the People's Poet of Belarus Yanka Kupala , the legendary poet of the 1930s Valeria Moreyakova . An investigation of the poet’s biography, about which L. Moreyakov later wrote a monograph , of other repressed relatives turned into a systematic and professional study of the history of all cultural figures and the public of Belarus who suffered during the years of Stalin's rule. This was made possible by obtaining short-term access to the secret archives of the KGB of Belarus.
Moryakov is the author of a unique encyclopedic reference book in 10 volumes (15 books, 9 of which were published at the beginning of 2008) “Repressed Writers, Scientists, Education Workers, Public and Cultural Figures of Belarus, 1794-1991” ( Belorussian. “Represavaniya Literatara, Navukoўtsy, workers of asveti, Gramadish and cultural dzheyachy of Belarus. 1794-1991 " ), which contains biographies of more than 20,000 people who were shot or died in the Stalinist concentration camps (Gulag) of Belarusian culture. Other significant works published by Moryakov: “Destruction” ( Belarusian. “Vynishchenne” ) - a book devoted to the study of repression against Belarusian writers; “Victims and Executioners” ( Belorussian “Ahvyary i Karnіki” ), is a documentary study of the fate of victims and their tormentors during the mass executions of the 1930s; two-volume encyclopedic reference book “Repressed Orthodox Priests and Clergy of Belarus. 1917-1967 ”( Belorussian. “ Represpensory legal rights of the holy and dear to the servants of Belarus. 1917-1967 ” ).
The first stories were published in 1998. In subsequent years, a series of collections was published. Moryakov’s stories usually affect the years of Stalin’s repressions and Brezhnev’s stagnation, tracing the fate of people opposing the totalitarian regime. The characters of Moryakov’s books are distinguished by their hatred of injustice, an unquenchable thirst to fight for freedom, for a better life. Moryakov also wrote action-packed, dynamic stories, often based on facts from a personal biography. Moryakov has been a member of the Union of Belarusian Writers since 2002, a full member of the international PEN Club , and a laureate of a number of literary prizes. Was married. He had a son and a daughter.
He died of brain cancer on December 17, 2016 [1] .
