Coretti Genrikhovna Arle-Titz (real name Coretta Alfred , Eng. Coretta Alfred ; December 5 (?) 1881 New York - December 15, 1951 , Moscow ) is a Russian singer (lyric-dramatic soprano ) of American origin.

Since 1901, she performed in a Budapest cabaret as part of the black female troupe “Amazonian Guards from Louisiana” ( English The Louisiana Amazon Guards ) [1] , in 1903 she went on tour with Russia with the troupe. During the tour, she married pianist Boris Tits, who was her accompanist, after which she changed her stage name. She remained to live in Russia, improved her performing skills in St. Petersburg under the guidance of the famous vocal teacher Elizabeth Tsvanziger , then with Maria Vladimirova and Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov . Along with pop performances, she also sang in opera - in particular, she performed the main part in Verdi's Aida in the Kharkov Opera [2] . During the Civil War, she spoke to the soldiers of the Red Army . In the mid-1920s, she sang in Leningrad with the jazz band Leopold Teplitsky , in 1926 participated in the Russian tour of the jazz ensemble under the direction of trombonist Frank Withers (which included, in particular, Sydney Beschet ).

In 1936, she starred in the film "Circus" directed by Grigory Alexandrov as the nanny of the little black son of the heroine of the film Marion Dixon ( Lyubov Orlova ). During the Second World War, she performed in front-line Soviet military units with the performance of African-American spirituals [3] . In 1945, she starred in the movie "Fifteen Years Captain" in the role of the old black woman Nan. She was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery next to her husband.
