Player Career

He played at the positions of defender and midfielder in the teams Dynamo ( Brest ), Wings of the Soviets ( Kuibyshev ), Dynamo (Minsk), Chernomorets (Odessa), Dnipro ( Dnepropetrovsk ).

After three years in Minsk, for family reasons, forced to leave the team. Having offers from several clubs of the major league, he chose Dnipro . Together with the new team he became the champion of the USSR in 1983 and the bronze medalist of the USSR championship in 1984.

In the major league of the USSR held 210 matches, scored 6 goals.

In the USSR national team, he played 1 match against the German national team in Hanover . He played against the young Rudy Feller. At one point, knocked the ball in the tackle, but Feller landed the whole mass on Pavlov’s knee. As a result, an injury and two and a half months in a cast.

Coaching career

He graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk Institute of Physical Education and the Higher School of Trainers.

Over the years, he headed the football clubs Kolos ( Nikopol ), Tavria (Simferopol), Crystal ( Kherson ), Dnipro (Dnipropetrovsk), Metallurg / Ilyichevets ( Mariupol ).

In 1992 (match against the national team of Belarus) and 1994 (two matches against the national team of Korea), he was the head coach of the Ukrainian team .

In the 1994/95 season, he was invited to Dynamo (Kiev) to the position of team leader, but during the season he became the acting head coach.

From January 2008 to May 2012, he was the head coach of the Vorskla Poltava.

May 29, 2012 signed a contract under the "3 + 2" scheme with the Mariupol "Illichivtsi". The coaching staff also included Ivan Balan , Sergey Diryavka and Andrey Tarakhtiy.

On May 20, 2018, as part of the celebration of the next anniversary of the founding of the All-Ukrainian Association of Football Trainers , the presentation of Nikolai Pavlov’s book “There Is Nothing Better than the Truth”, co-authored with Ukrainian journalists Arthur Walerk and Anatoly Yangol [1], was held .
