The monument to Y. M. Sverdlov in Nizhny Novgorod is located in a park on the corner of Bolshaya Pokrovskaya and Oktyabrskaya streets. The opening of the monument took place on November 5, 1957. The authors of the project are sculptors Gusev P. I. and Chugurin N. M., architect Rymarenko V. N.

Creation History
Yakov Mikhailovich Sverdlov was born in N. Novgorod on May 23, 1885 . In the early 1890s, the Sverdlov family moved to house number 6 on the street. B. Pokrovskaya. Here childhood, youth, the formation of a professional revolutionary passed. For the first time, the question of creating a monument to the revolutionary was raised shortly after the death of Y. M. Sverdlov at a meeting of the executive committee in N. Novgorod on April 27, 1920 . But due to lack of funds, the solution was postponed. In 1947, a memorial exposition of the museum of Y. M. Sverdlov was created in the former Sverdlovs house. And in 1955, a competition for a monument was announced. The sculptors P. I. Gusev and N. M. Chugurin, architect V. N. Rymarenko received the best mark for creating the project and the model.
Monument Description
The authors created an expressive sculptural sculpture of the young, energetic revolutionary Ya. M. Sverdlov, as he was seen at the beginning of the 20th century on the streets of Nizhny Novgorod, at workers' meetings and in the classes of the Marxist circle.
