The flag of Adjara is seven horizontal, alternating dark blue and white stripes, with the national flag of Georgia in the roof.

Dark blue stripes symbolize the Black Sea , white stripes symbolize purity. The flag was adopted on July 20, 2004 by the Supreme Council of Adjara.

In 2000-2004 the government of Aslan Abashidze used the flag, which was a dark blue cloth with seven seven-rayed stars in the roof.

The blue background also symbolized the Black Sea, and seven stars symbolically represented two cities of Adjara ( Batumi and Kobuleti ), and five districts ( Khelvachauri , Kobuleti , Keda , Shuakhevi , Khulo ).

Flag of Adjara Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.

In the Soviet Union , the Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of Ajara (AASSR) had its own flag in 1937-1951. In 1951-1991 The state flag of the Adzharian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was the state flag of the Georgian SSR .
