Bargnani began his professional career in 2002 in the team of the Italian B2 Series “Stella Azura” from Rome, a year later he moved to one of the strongest clubs in Italy “ Benetton Treviso ”. In this team, he progressed year after year, playing in Serie A and the Euroleague , in 2006 became the champion of Italy and received the title of rising star of the Euroleague. In 2006, he became the first European to be selected in the NBA draft at number one; he was picked up by the Toronto Raptors club.
