Richard Knaak is an American science fiction writer. Born in Chicago on May 28, 1961 . At first he enrolled in the University of Illinois at the Department of Chemistry, but then switched to rhetoric and graduated from the university with a bachelor’s degree in rhetoric and philosophy. Then he worked as a warehouse manager, was a postal employee.

The future science fiction has fallen in love with Andre Norton 's cycle about "The Witching World ". During the reading, he also found for himself such great authors as Zhelyazny with his Chronicles of Amber , Edgar R. Burroughs , Edgar Allan Poe , who, according to him, expressed maximum influence on him.
Richard sold his first story to publishers in 1986 . Actively, the writer's works began to be published in 1987 , most of his works have been translated into German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Russian, Polish and Finnish.
The most popular Knaak brought the cycles of the novels " Dragonrealm " and " Dragonlance ".
