Biography
I hardly studied at school, I was a laborer. In 1918 - 1922 he lived in Paris , visited Bateau Lavoir . In 1930 he founded a construction company, very successful. Constantly traveled, from 1950 to 1955 he lived in Brazil , traveled to Uruguay , Argentina , Chile .
After 1945 he began to engage in painting and sculpture. He was familiar with Prever , Cocteau , Breton , Picasso , Giacometti , Dubuffet, Jean , Chagall .
Since 1962, he lived with his wife in Cosse-le-Vivienne, year after year creating his own giant museum. Inspired by the art of medieval cathedrals in Europe, the traditional culture of Latin America.
Taten Museum
Since 1967, several films have been shot about the Taten Museum; in 1969, it received official status. It includes: Riga, Giants Avenue (19 statues from Joan of Arc to King Ubyu), Fortress, Sculpture Field, etc.
Recognition
Gold Medal of the Biennale in São Paulo ( 1956 ), First Prize for Art Criticism (Paris, 1961 ).
