Dorchester County ( eng. Dorchester County ) is a county on the East Bank of Maryland . The county seat is the city of Cambridge . Dorchester County is bordered by Delaware in the northeast, Wycomico county in the southeast, Caroline county in the north, and the Chesapeake Bay in the west. In 2000 , 30,674 people lived in the district. The county is named after Edward Sekvill, Earl of Dorset ( en ), a close friend of the Calvert family (the founders of the Maryland colony).
