Susquehanna ( English Susquehanna River , Lenape Siskëwahane [1] ) - the river in the northeastern part of the USA , the longest among the North American rivers flowing into the Atlantic Ocean between the mouth of St. Lawrence and the Mississippi and the 16th in length among US rivers (715 km ) The 71,225 km² river basin covers about half of Pennsylvania , as well as parts of New York and Maryland .

The river is formed by the confluence of the North (considered the main stream, source in Lake Otsigo ) and Western Susquehanna near the city of Northumberland in Pennsylvania.
The mouth of the Susquehanna in the northern part of the Chesapeake Bay ; in fact, the Chesapeake Bay is the Saskuehanna estuary , which was flooded as a result of rising sea levels after the end of the last ice age .
The largest tributary of Susquehanna is the Juniate River (167 km).
On the riverbank in Pennsylvania there are three nuclear power plants: Three Mile Island , Susquehanna and Peach Bottom [2] .
