Biography
Father - Nikolai Mikhailovich Punin, military doctor, doctor of the Guards Rifle Brigade, participant in the First World War. Mother - Anna Nikolaevna Artamonova, actress.
He graduated from the 2nd Cadet Corps (1910) and the Pavlovsk Military School (1912), from where he was released as lieutenant in the 94th Yenisei Infantry Regiment .
At the end of 1912 he was transferred to the 8th Finland Rifle Regiment , with which he entered the First World War . In 1914-1915 he was the head of the team of foot scouts, and also was an adjutant . He was awarded the Order of St. George 4th degree

The detachment of special importance under the Commander-in-Chief of the Northern Front was the only partisan formation operating on the territory of the Riga bridgehead. Ataman Puninβs detachment participated in Mitau , Riga, Dvinsk and other operations, and received positive feedback from the High Command.
On September 1, 1916, he was mortally wounded in a battle with the Germans - at Anticius Manor (now Antitsiems) and died on the same day. He was buried near St. Petersburg.
