Biography
In 1948 - 1950 , алalakevicius studied at the Faculty of Electronics of the University of Kaunas with a degree in radio engineering, and studied mathematics and engineering there. Entering VGIK in 1951 , he studied directing there with M.E. Chiaureli and G.V. Alexandrov . After graduating from VGIK in 1956 , Zhalakevicius began working at the Lithuanian film studio . Filmed in 1966, the film “Nobody Wanted to Die” brought алalakevičius the international fame. In 1961-1975 , and since 1980, Zhalakevicius was the artistic director of the Lithuanian film studio , and in 1974-1980 he lived in Moscow , worked at Mosfilm and taught at the Higher Screenwriting Courses. Zhalakevicius was the secretary of the party organization of the Lithuanian Film Studio , co-chair of the Lithuanian State Committee for Cinematography, a member of the Lithuanian Writers Union and the USSR Writers Union . In 1991, together with Kestas Pyatrulis founded the film studio "2000".
