Adele Laurie Blue Adkins ( born Adele Laurie Blue Adkins ; May 5, 1988 , London , England ) is a British singer, songwriter and poet. Winner of 15 Grammy Awards (out of 18 nominations) [7] . The first musician in history who managed to win in the nominations “ Album of the Year ” ( 21 and 25 ), “ Record of the Year ” and “ Song of the Year ” twice. The song " Skyfall " won the Oscars and Golden Globes [8] [9] [10] .

After graduating from BRIT School in 2006, Adele signed with XL Recordings . In 2007, Adele won the “Critics' Choice” nomination for Brit awards and was recognized as the new best performer at the BBC Sound of 2008 based on a survey [5] . Debut album 19 was released in 2008 and became commercially successful. At the 51st Grammy Awards in 2009, Adele received awards in the nominations for “Best New Artist” and “ Best Female Vocal Pop Performance ” [5] .
Adele released her second studio album 21 in early 2011 . The album was well received by critics, and also surpassed success in sales of the singer's debut. In 2012, Adele won many awards, including six Grammy awards, including the best album of the year ; two Brit Awards and three American Music Awards. [11] The album received 16 platinum certifications in the UK and is the fourth best-selling album in the UK of all time [12] . In the USA, the album has diamond certification [13] . Worldwide, more than 31 million copies of the album were sold. [14]
Adele is listed several times in the Guinness Book of Records [15] . In the new edition of the Book, three unique achievements of the singer are recorded: Adele is recognized as the first solo artist, whose album was headed by the British chart for 11 consecutive weeks and 21 weeks in general [16] . And besides - the only artist, two albums and two singles of which simultaneously found themselves in the top five of the hit parade . Adele was awarded the Order of the British Empire . In 2012, she released the song " Skyfall ", which became the title theme for Bond 007: Skyfall coordinates [17] [18] . Biography
Adele Laurie Blue Edkins was born on May 5, 1988 in Tottenham , a district of London . Her mother is an Englishwoman, Penny Edkins, and her father is Mark Evans [23] . Evans left Adele, leaving her with her mother when she was two years old [24] [25] . Adele started singing at the age of four, singing was her favorite pastime [26] [27] . In 1997, Adele and her mother moved to Brighton on the south coast of England. In 1999, they returned back to London; first to Brixton , and then to neighboring London - West Norwood [28] .
Adele first performed on stage at the school, where she performed "Rise" (hit Gabriel ). By this time, she was influenced by her beloved performers, Etta James and Dusty Springfield , although, by her own admission, they came across their records by accident. Adele entered the London School of Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon (where Amy Winehouse , Katie Melua , Leona Lewis, and Kate Nash also studied) and graduated in May 2006. Two months later, she published two of her compositions in the fourth edition of the online art magazine PlatformsMagazine.com.
Adele went on her first British tour in October 2007. By this time, her demo tape had appeared on MySpace , recorded in her youth and later donated to a friend who posted it there. Thanks to the success on MySpace, Adele got her first contract. On October 22, 2007, her debut single, Hometown Glory , was released via Pacemaker Recordings (owned by Jamie T. ), a sort of tribute to Tottenham , which was recognized as the “Single of the Week” on iTunes , and in April 2008 the single again hit the British top 40 , after it was used in the soundtrack of the series “ Skins ” [29] .
In December 2007, Adele received the Brit Awards Critics' Choice Award (given to an artist who does not yet have an album). This was followed by the signing of a new contract - with XL Recordings - and the release of the second single, "Chasing Pavements", which held the second place in the UK charts for a month. In January 2008, her debut album 19 took the lead in the national hit parade a week after the release and gained 500,000 copies in a month, receiving a “platinum” status. In March 2008, Adele signed an American contract with Columbia Records and had a successful tour in the United States and Canada. On June 20, 2008, her debut album was released in the United States [30] , rising to # 10 [31] .
In 2010, Adele was nominated for a Grammy (Best Female Pop Performance) for the single Hometown Glory [32] . In September (after her performance on The X Factor ), her cover version of “Make You Feel My Love” by Bob Dylan re-entered the UK charts and climbed to 4th place [33] .
January 24, 2011 in the UK released the second studio album of the singer 21 ; The American release took place on February 22 [34] [35] . Critics noted some changes in the sound of the record: a shift towards country music [36] . The first single from the album " Rolling in the Deep " for 7 weeks occupied the first line of the Billboard Hot 100 , which is very rare for British artists. The album rose to first place in the UK charts (leading 6 weeks) [37] , Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, and in March 2011 came out on top in the Billboard 200 [31] .
The second single (performed by the singer at the Brit Awards ), "Someone Like You," reached number one in Britain [29] . According to the Official Charts Company, Adele - with two singles and two albums in the corresponding first "fives" at the same time - became the second in history after The Beatles (1964), who managed to achieve such a result [38] [39] .
In early November 2011, it was announced the cancellation of all Adele’s concerts in connection with the operation on the vocal cords .
In early 2012, Adele’s song “ Set Fire to the Rain ” topped the US national hit parade, the “Hot Hundred,” of Billboard Magazine.
By May 2012, Adele 21's album sold 4,274,300 copies in the UK. Thus, the disc fell into the top five most successful releases of all time the existence of the British media market [40] .
In May 2012, Adele became the victor of the Billboard Music Award , receiving 12 awards from 20 nominations [41] .

Personal life
In 2011, Adele began dating businessman Simon Konekki [47] . October 19, 2012 the couple had a son - Angelo James Konecki [48] [49] . According to the singer, at a concert in Australia in March 2017, the couple secretly married in a private ceremony in their mansion in Los Angeles [50] . In March 2017, they bought a house in in West Sussex in the south of England. [51] On April 19, 2019, Adele announced their separation [52] . At the same time, the statement notes that the former spouses undertake to raise their son together and in love and ask that their right to privacy be preserved, and also stipulates that no further comments will follow [53] .
