The first-generation Cerato was made in South Korea . In South Korea itself, the car was named Kia K3 and went on sale in 2003. The world premiere of the third-generation Cerato was held in 2012 at the Los Angeles Auto Show , despite the fact that sales in South Korea began in the summer of that year ^[3] . The car has got a new look in accordance with the corporate style of the company, the interior with a 4.2-inch color display, as well as new engines. The third-generation design was developed at Kia Motors America, an American subsidiary of Kia Design Center America (chief designer Tom Cairns) in California .

Sales of Kia Cerato of the third generation in the CIS countries started in 2013. In Russia, Cerato has been produced on AUTOTOR since February 2013 in four versions (comfort, luxe, prestige and premium) with two gasoline 1.6- and 2.0-liter engines with 130 and 150 hp, working with 6- manual mechanical and 6-band automatic transmissions .
