Production
The history of Irkutsk mineral water began in 1968. Geologists drilled a well on the Olkh River, from which water of balanced mineral composition was raised to the surface, which allowed the Irkutsk industrial water bottling to begin. The mineral base of the deposit is the ancient sea of the Cambrian period , whose age is more than 500 million years. Passing through the natural filter of the rocks of the Eastern Sayan Mountains , the water is saturated with minerals and trace elements, including calcium, magnesium, and hydrocarbons. After natural filtration and mineralization, water makes its way deep underground and accumulates in natural underground storages.
Mineral water "Irkutsk" is produced from well No. 27-BIS from a depth of 352 meters in the village of Olha, Shelekhovsky district, Irkutsk region. At this depth, the water of the field is protected from any external influences and retains its balanced natural mineral composition.
From 1968 to 1984, Irkutsk Mineral Water was produced by the Irkutsk Brewery. In 1985, after the closure of the Irkutsk brewery, the Irkutsk Beer and Non-Alcohol Plant began production, which was part of the Irkutskpishcheprom association. In 2005, as a result of the separation of production from the plant and its transfer to an independent site, the Irkutsk Mineral Water Bottling Plant was formed.
The company supplies its products to all settlements of the Irkutsk region, as well as to Buryatia and Chita. In the European part of Russia, Irkutsk mineral water is known under the name Baikal Reserve. In April 2007, the source was consecrated by the rector of the Irkutsk Prince Vladimir Monastery .
For the first time, Irkutsk was bottled for sale in 1968, it was a standard 0.5-liter glass bottle. The characteristic, easily recognizable design of Irkutskaya mineral water - a cone-shaped bottle, was first produced by the Irkutskpishcheprom enterprise in 1997. Over the entire period of production, the Irkutsk citizens drank more than one and a half billion bottles of Irkutsk.
