Station Pavilion

The station was opened on December 30, 1985 as part of the Ploshchad Aleksandra Nevskogo - Prospect Bolshevikov .

Contrary to popular belief The Road of Life track is not directly related to the station’s location: it ran along the direction of the modern Revolution highway to Lake Ladoga . However, the metro station still has an indirect relation to the "Road of Life": the suburban passenger traffic direction of the nearby Ladoga Station covers the historical railway stations associated with the "Road of Life". This is reflected in the design of the metro station.

Prospect Kosygin until 1982 was called Ladoga . In the project, the station was called Novoladozhskaya.

Initially, when designing the Right-Bank line, the station was planned to be built at the intersection of Industrialny and Kosygin avenues, but due to problems with soils in this section, the route had to be changed [2] and launched south-east into the Nevsky district .

Ground structures

The station’s ground pavilion was designed by architect V. N. Esinovsky and engineer G. F. Proshina with the participation of S. N. Krivonosov , V. F. Khivrich and Yu. A. Ryzhov (Lengiprotrans Institute) and is located at the end of Zanevsky Prospect near Ladozhsky train station .

The pavilion was the first stage in the construction of the Ladoga station, which was being designed at that time (the launch complex included the construction of a cash-escalator hall and two-story outbuildings located on the sides for operational and technical services of the subway), and its space-planning solution was linked to the initial design of the entire station complex .

The metropavilion was to occupy a central place in the station, located between the sections of passenger tunnels leading to railway platforms and become the total volume of the future large building. The cover of the escalator hall, originally designed from metal structures, was later planned to be moved up by raising floors. It was supposed to take the place of one of the six crowning station lights, providing natural lighting for the interior. The initial project of the station complex was not implemented.

On the main facade, lined with Saaremian dolomite , dark gray granite , and stemalite , the entry and exit zones are symmetrically identified - they are overlapped by forward visors. Above the roof rises a large glass lantern around the perimeter.

The ceiling supported by the columns, in its central part having the shape of an irregular octahedron, is covered by an cement-cement structure. A chandelier is suspended from it, repeating the octagonal outlines of the light.

The portals, both above the entrance to the escalator tunnel and above the spacious exit from it, are entirely lined with gray-blue Ufalean marble .

Along the entire back of the lobby, backlogs were arranged for future walkways to railway platforms, decorated in solid stained-glass windows . During the construction of the Ladoga station on a different project than the original plan, the groundwork was realized. The lobby was combined with the train station.

Underground Structures

Ladoga is a single-vault deep-laying station (depth ≈ 61 m). It was designed by architect V.N. Esinovsky and engineer G.F. Proshina with the participation of S.N. Krivonosov , L. A. Filippova and Yu. A. Ryzhov (Lengiprotrans Institute). The thematic design of the station is dedicated to the Life Road of the besieged Leningrad.

The ends of the underground hall and the track walls along the bottom are lined with gray-blue Ufalean marble , which is associated with the waters of Ladoga, and are crowned with a frieze of dark gray polished granite with the name of the station.

Two rows of floor lamps mounted on the platform, 11 on each side, symbolize the way posts . The floor-lamps, scaled in height, faced with white marble , serve as light sources: they emit beams of light from under their bronze screens with memorable dates “1941-1944”.

The platform also has three pairs of massive benches. The floor is covered with gray granite rectangles edged with black stripes of labradorite .

At the end of the station, it was supposed to place the marble composition "Ladoga ice ridges". But the idea of the architects was not fully realized, and the end face is decorated only with a white marble wall framed by a dark portal with the inscription " 1941 ROAD OF LIFE 1944 " with side lighting.

An inclined course containing four escalators is located at the northern end of the station.

In 2006 , the station's lighting changed: mercury discharge lamps (white, slightly bluish) were replaced by sodium (brighter, yellow). After such a replacement, different shades of blue and any other color differences in the lining of the hall were not visible; everything turned yellow-gray.

Perspectives

After 2030, it is planned to build a transition to the prospective Ladoga station of the Circle Line, which will begin from the center of the hall (like on Sadovaya). It is also planned to build a second exit to the streets of Zolnaya and Latvian Shooters [3] .
