History
The car was created in 1951 at the Yaroslavl Automobile Plant ( YAZ ), where it was produced from 1956 to 1959 under the name YAZ-214 . Then, production was transferred to the Kremenchug Automobile Plant (KrAZ).
KrAZ-214 was produced from 1960 [1] until 1963. Most of the cars produced were used in the armed forces and the oil and gas industry. KrAZ-214 was also used for other purposes, in particular, as a towing aircraft at airports .
Options and Modifications
- YaAZ-214 ( KrAZ-214 ) - the basic model [2]
- KrAZ-214B is a modernized version of 1962 [3] , it was distinguished by the presence of an on-board power supply network with a voltage of 24 V and a modernized suspension, it was mass-produced from 1963 to 1967
Application

KrAZ / YAZ-214 was the base chassis for the following weapons:
- pontoon bridge park (PMP);
- heavy mechanized bridge ( TMM );
- excavators : E-305V [4] and EOV-4421 ;
- an on-board vehicle ( tractor ) for transporting heavy artillery calculations ;
- Launcher of tactical missiles of the 2K5 Korshun missile system.
Additional Information
- The 2P5 launcher with six 3R7 missiles of the 2K5 Korshun tactical missile system on the KrAZ-214 chassis is an exhibit of the Military History Museum of Artillery, Engineering and Signal Corps [5]
- in 2005, the restored army airborne KrAZ-214 of 1960 was installed at the KrAZ museum.
