This area covers mainly the entire historical part of the capital of Germany, where many of the city’s attractions are located. All the institutions of the Bundestag , the Bundesrat and the federal government , as well as most of the embassies, are located in the Mitte and Tiergarten districts.
Before the administrative reform of 2001, the Mitte district was an independent administrative district, and the modern Mitte district was formed as a result of the merger of the old Mitte , Tiergarten and Wedding districts.
