Jeremiel ( al-Heb. ירחמיאל - “the height of God”, “exaltation to God”, Jeremiel ; Ramiel ), in Christian and Judaic angelology, one of the archangels . It is mentioned in the noncanonical Old Testament third book of Ezra , where he, together with the archangel Uriel, came to the prophet and answered his questions about the end of the world:
| Did the souls of the righteous inquire about the same thing in their locks, saying: “How long will we hope in this way? And when is the fruit of our retribution? ”Jeremyel the Archangel answered me:“ when will the number of seeds in you be fulfilled, for the Most High has weighed this age on a scale, and has measured time by number, and has counted hours, and will not move and accelerate until until a certain measure is fulfilled ”(3 Ezek. 4: 35-37 ) |
Traditionally, the archangel Jeremiel is depicted on icons holding scales in his right hand.
Jeremiel, according to tradition, is sent to a person to facilitate his return to God. In the Jewish tradition, Jeremiel is represented on the list of seven major archangels. The archangel of God not only reveals the gloomy perspective of the sinful world, but also helps to see the holy grains of eternal life in the world. Angels of repentance are subordinate to Jeremiel. They remind a person of forgotten sins, help with confession, repentance, communion, give a person strength for inner work and are near at the moment of his prayer.
Also, in another interpretation, the name Ramil means "Thunder of God." Ramiel is the 6th archangel mentioned in the book of Enoch . Ramil is an angel of hope, he has 2 tasks: he is responsible for Divine visions and escorts the souls of believers to Heaven.
He is also associated with Baruch , a prolific author of apocryphal Jewish texts of the 1st century BC. e., namely, with his prophetic gift. One such revelation catalyzed by Jeremiel was the prophecy of the coming of the Messiah . In another revelation, Jeremiel took Baruch on a journey through different levels of Heaven.
In addition to being the archangel of prophetic revelations, Jeremiel also helps souls who have just departed to another world to reconsider their lives.
