Shin-Yokohama Station ( Jap. 新 横 浜 駅 Shin-Yokohama-eki ) is a railway station in Yokohama , Japan , which is located on the Tokaido-Shinkansen lines, Yokohama Line and Yokohama Municipal Subway . The third railway station in Japan (after the Atami station on January 1, 1974 and on December 15, 1977), where on December 15, 1985, for the safety of passengers during the arrival of Shinkansen trains to the station, automatic platform gates . 25 years after installation in 1985, due to deterioration, the old, original automatic platform gates were replaced by modern ones, from the end of March 2010 to the end of July 2010.
