The son of musicians. He graduated from a music school in Dzerzhinsk , Music School at the Moscow State Conservatory. P.I. Tchaikovsky and the Moscow Conservatory , class of Natalia Shakhovskaya . He also studied with Mstislav Rostropovich . The sign of recognition from Rostropovich was the invitation of Shapovalov to the Maestro festivals in Evian (France, 1999, 2000) and Baku (Azerbaijan, 2006). Shapovalov participated in jubilee concerts for the 75th anniversary of the teacher with the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Rostropovich ( 2002 , London, New York ), together with the Maestro performed at the A. Sakharov festival ( 2004 , Nizhny Novgorod ).

In 1994 , he participated in the Tchaikovsky International Competition , and in 1998 became his winner. In 2004-2006 Trained at the Department of Opera and Symphony Conducting of the Moscow State Conservatory. From 2001 to 2012 taught at the Moscow Conservatory in the department of cello. In 2007 , he became the first classical musician to perform at the North Pole , where he performed works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Franz Schubert before members of the polar expedition [1] .
