History

In the 11th century , a defensive rampart passed along the current Yaroslavov Val Street. In the 1840s and 1950s, the remains of the rampart were demolished, and Podvalnaya Street was laid in its place (it passed "under the rampart"). In 1869, the street was officially called Yaroslavov Val Street. In parallel, there was another name - Big Basement. In 1928, the street was named after Voroshilov , in 1957 it was renamed Polupanova Street (in honor of the first Soviet commandant of Kiev), in 1963 - in Bolshaya Podvalnaya, in 1977 - in Yaroslavov Val Street.
