Chlodoald

Chlodoald , Klodoald , St. Claude ( Chlodovald ; ca. 520 [1] - 7 September 560 ) - the third and youngest son of the king from the Merovingian dynasty Chlodomir and his wife Guinteki [2] .

After the violent death of his father in 524, juvenile Chlodoald, along with two also young brothers Theodoald and Gunthar, was sent to his grandmother Hrodehild .

Their uncles, Khlotar and Khildebert , wanted to divide the inheritance of their brother and therefore killed Teodoald and Guntara, fearing their claims to part of their father’s inheritance. Chlodooald managed to escape, saved by his faithful friends of his father, and withdrew from the fight, becoming a priest .

Chlodooald saved his life by abandoning claims to power, as a sign of which he cut off his long hair, which he wore as the acting Prince of the Merovingians [3] . Later Chlodoald became the founder and patron saint of the famous monastery in Saint-Cloud near Paris .
