Biography
Eduard Hambartsumyan was born on February 23, 1986 in Sochi. He started boxing at the age of 8 under the leadership of Victor Dimitriadi. Later, his older brother Alik Hambartsumyan also worked with him. In 2002-2004 he was a member of the junior and junior national teams of Russia, in 2004 he won the world championship among juniors, held in the Korean city of Jeju . In 2004 and 2006, he was one of the winners at the Russian championships among adults.
Since 2007, he played for Armenia. At the World Championships in Chicago, he reached the quarter finals, guaranteeing himself an Olympic license. During the boxing tournament of the Olympic Games in Beijing (2008), in the weight category up to 64 kg. lost in the first round to future champion Dominican Felix Diaz . At the 2008 European Championships, he won four fights and reached the final. His final rival Hungarian Gyula Kate received a dissection in the first round and was removed by the doctor from the competition, and Eduard Hambartsumyan was declared European champion.
In 2009, he completed his sports career and switched to coaching in the Sports School for Boxing in Sochi.
