Decani ( Serbian. Decani, Decani , Alb. Deçani ) is a city [4] in the historical region of Metohija . The administrative center of the community of the same name . Since 2008, it has been under the control of the partially recognized Republic of Kosovo .

A few kilometers to the west of it is one of the largest and most famous monasteries of the Serbian Orthodox Church - High Dečany .
A highway of republican significance Pecs - Dzhakovitsa passes through the village.

Population
According to the 1981 census, 3280 people lived in the city: 2739 Albanians, 326 Montenegrins, 109 Serbs, 56 Yugoslavs, 26 Muslims , 8 Gypsies, 3 Macedonians, Croats and 2 Hungarians [5] .
According to the 2011 census, 3803 people lived in the city: 1895 men and 1908 women; 3781 Albanians, 9 “ Balkan Egyptians ”, 3 Serbs, 1 Bosnyak, 1 Ashkali , 6 representatives of other nationalities and 2 persons of unknown nationality [6] .
