Forum Nerva ( lat. Forum Nervæ ) - the fourth of the five imperial forums in Rome , also called Forum Transitorium . The construction of this forum was begun under the emperor Vespasian or Domitian , however, it was completed only in the year 98 under Nerve , therefore the form is named after him.
The forum was located between the Forum of Augustus and the Temple of Peace (Vespasian forum), hence the second name Forum Transitorium : "passing forum." The Forum (120 by 45 meters) also connected Argilet (a street or residential area of Ancient Rome) and the Roman Forum .
At the Nerva forum, there was a small temple dedicated to Minerva , which was destroyed in 1606 by order of Pope Paul V for the construction of the Aqua Paola Fountain and the Borgia Chapel in Santa Maria Maggiore ), as well as the column hall. Only 2 granite columns (the so-called Colonacce - Huge columns ), part of the wall and relief depicting Minerva have survived to this day. Most of this forum is also buried under Via dei Fori Imperiali .
