History
Earlier, in the area of modern Yantal , the village of Voroshilovo was founded no later than the end of the XIX century . The fragmentary information that has been preserved about it suggests that the village was founded as a stop on the Ilimsky tract , passing from Ilimsk to Ust-Kut .
In the 1938-1950s, on the site of the village there was a camp of prisoners engaged in the construction of the Taishet-Lena railway and the Yantal station (neither the time of the appearance, nor the meaning of this name is known exactly). The station was put into permanent operation in 1958, and a small village of railway workers arose during it.
However, the year 1974 was generally considered the year of foundation of Yantal, when a new part began to be built near the Elova River - the village of lumberjacks.
The construction was carried out at the expense of the Ukrainian SSR by the forces of a mobile mechanized column No. 1 of the Ukrmezhkolkhozstroy trust. In 1976, a railway dead end was built, removed from the Yantal station, to receive and send goods. In the same year, the timber industry farm No. 3 “Ukrmezhkolkhozstroy” was founded, in 1980 it was renamed “Dneprovsky”.
In parallel with the construction of the timber industry farm, the station part of the village developed, in connection with the construction of the Baikal-Amur Railway , it was decided to lay the second route and electrify the section from Taishet to Lena .
The population of the village grew rapidly due to immigrants. If on January 1, 1977, 680 people were listed as residents of the village, then by July 1 of the same year their number exceeded 1300.
In 1977, the Yantala Village Council was formed. [4] The first chairman of the Yantala Village Council was Yekaterina Dmitrievna Aftanaki. January 15, 1978 held the first election of village deputies.
Construction forces continued to arrive in the village. In March 1978, a mobile mechanized column No. 3 "Ukrmezhkolkhozstroy" was deployed here, a year later - a road-building section of a mobile mechanized column No. 24.
Before the collapse of the USSR , several organizations of the Ukrlesgaz association operated in the village.
In 1989, Yantal received the status of an urban-type settlement [5] .
From 1992 to 1996, the village was in decline. Wood production fell, city-forming enterprises experienced economic problems. The population was rapidly declining.
In 1996, the newly established Yantalles OJSC became the head enterprise of the village, the activity of which not only corrected the situation, but also gave a new impetus to the development of the village [6] . However, in the mid -2000s, Yantalles split into two enterprises, the number of employees was reduced, and problems in the housing and communal services sector reappeared [7] . To this day, Yantal is in another wave of decline.
Title
The most common opinion is that the word Yantal is of Evenk origin and translates as “red clay”. However, this version is not supported by dictionaries, and in fact it can be an urban legend .

The collection of utility bills in 2009 amounted to 50-53%, which is associated with a low standard of living of the population of the village [16] .
