Electronic flight instrument system

EFIS in the Airbus A380 cabin

EFIS ( English Electronic flight instrument system , electronic flight instrument system ). For air navigation tasks, it is permanently installed in the aircraft cabin. One of the first fully digital systems that replaced the electromechanical control technology for flight data. Since the late 1980s, has been installed on Boeing and Airbus aircraft .

Since 1993 , on medium-haul passenger aircraft McDonnell is equipped (usually six) with displays that facilitate the activities of pilots. As a rule, it consists of a flight display, a multifunctional display, engine status indicators and a display for the crew of the Alerting system (EICAS). In the current decade, liquid crystal displays have replaced the previous generation of flight instruments that used ray tubes (CRT).

Today, EFIS is recognized as a modern world model of electronic flight information systems. The embedded system is designed to display flight and navigation information. This electronic computer tool operates through a variety of sensors. On light aircraft, a single display is installed, which displays all flight characteristics and navigation data. Since its inception, EFIS has been of interest in connection with the increasing importance of the human factor in the work activity of a human operator .
