Carlo Cozio Count di Salabue ( Italian: Carlo Cozio ; circa 1715 - circa 1780) - Italian chess theorist of the 18th century . The author of the chess manual (written in 1740, Turin ; published in 1766 ). Some of Kotsio's analyzes are relevant for the modern chess endgame.

Biography
Carlo Kotsio was born in Casale Monferrato around 1715. He was married to Donna Thaddeus from the house of the Marquis Barbiano di Chieri; from this marriage had one son - Ignazio Alessandro Cocio di Salabue (1755-1840), who became a famous collector of violins.
In 1740 he finished the work “A game of chess, or new ideas about attacks, defenses and the beginnings of a chess game” (Il Giuoco degli Scacchi o sia Nuova idea di attacchi, difese e partiti del Giuoco degli Scacchi), which was published in Turin in 1766 and composed two volumes with a total volume of 700 pages.
Also known in theory is Mat Kotsio ( English Cozio's mate ).
He died around 1780.
