Biological properties

Morphology

A small (1.2-1.5 × 0.5 μm) rod - shaped bacterium with rounded edges. In smears from tissues and liquid cultures, they often form characteristic cell chains ( streptobacilli ). Fixed, forms a capsule .

Cultural Properties

Chemoorganeterotroph , facultative anaerobic . It does not grow on simple nutrient media; blood culture media ( blood agar , chocolate agar ) are used to cultivate the body; factor X is a necessary factor for growth on artificial nutrient media. On agarized culture media forms small, flat translucent (occasionally transparent) gray-yellow colonies. Under aerobic conditions, a high level of polymorphism of the shape of the colonies was noted, a pure culture may look like mixed [3]

Genome

The Haemophilus ducreyi genome of strain 35000HP is represented by a 1698955 bp ring double-stranded DNA molecule. and contains 1838 genes , of which 1717 encode proteins , the percentage of% G + C pairs is 84% [4] . Haemophilus ducreyi strain ATCC 27722 has a plasmid pNAD1, which is a 5568 bp ring double-stranded DNA molecule, contains 10 genes, of which 8 encode proteins [5] , the plasmid is responsible for NAD independence [6] .
