Biography

Algimantas Masiulis was born on July 10, 1931 in the village of Surdegis in the territory of Anyksciai district of Lithuania .

In 1948 he graduated from the studio at the Panevezys Drama Theater .

From 1948 to 1978 he was an actor of the Panevezys Drama Theater, from 1978 - the Kaunas Academic Drama Theater .

He made his film debut in 1957 in the episodic role of an officer in the film “ Ignotas Returned Home ”. All-Union and even world fame came to the actor after the release in 1966 of the film Vytautas Jalakevicius “ Nobody wanted to die .”

Masulis was an outstanding character actor. He played brightly, revealing the characters' characters, knew how to put real life material into the created image. [four]

In 1974, Algimantas Masiulis was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Lithuanian SSR , and in 1981 he received the title of People's Artist of the Lithuanian SSR .

Algimantas Masiulis played about 160 roles on the stage of the theater and about 100 on the set. Especially memorable his roles were the roles of SS officers [2] .

The last film of Masiulis was the documentary film “ Fritz and Blondes ” (2008) - a film about the evolution of the film image of the enemy, in which the actor starred together with the Latvian Uldis Lielge and Estonian Tynu Aav [3] .

He died on August 19, 2008 . He was buried at the Pyatrashunsky cemetery in Kaunas.
