Daniel Rudolf Anrig ( German: Daniel Rudolf Anrig ; born July 10, 1972 , Walenstadt , Switzerland ) is the thirty-fourth commander of the Pontifical Swiss Guard since August 19, 2008 . He has the rank of colonel of the guard.

Biography
Daniel Rudolph Anrig was born on July 10, 1972 in Walenstadt , the canton of St. Gallen .
Married, has four children.
Swiss Guard Halberdan from 1992 to 1994 .
Returning to his homeland, he received a diploma in civil and church law at the University of Friborg ( 1999 ), was an assistant in the department of civil law of the same university ( 1999 - 2001 ).
Head of the criminal police of the canton of Glarus in 2002 - 2006 [one]
In 2006 , having received the rank of captain of the Swiss army, he became general commandant of the police of the canton of Glarus.
On August 19, 2008 he was appointed 34th commander of the Swiss Guard . [2] He succeeded Elmar Meder , who served as commander of the Swiss Guard since 2002. [3]
Anrig said that he was open to the possibility of serving women in the guard, to the fact that his predecessors had always rejected. [four]
On December 3, 2014 , Pope Francis decided not to extend the command of Anrig, and his term expired on January 31, 2015 . [5]
