Club career

In 1948, Lantosh began playing for the MTK . In 1949, when Hungary became a communist state, the MTK was transferred to the head of the State Security Directorate and the club subsequently changed its name several times. Initially, it began to be called Textiles, then Bastia, later Vorosh Lobogo, and finally returned the name MTK. Despite this uncertainty, the 1950s became a successful era for the club under the guidance of coach Marton Bukovi , and Nandor Hidegkuti , Peter Palotas and Jozsef Zakarias played in the team. MTK and Lantos won three league titles, the Hungarian Cup and the Mitropa Cup . In 1955, as the Vorosh Lobogo club, the club played in the first ever European Cup . Lantosh scored three goals, including two from the penalty spot, and helped the club get to the quarter finals, where the team lost to Reims with a total score of 8: 6.

International Career

Between 1949 and 1956, Lantos played 52 matches and scored five goals for the Hungarian national team. As part of the Golden Team, he helped Hungary become the Olympic champion in 1952 and win the Central European Cup in 1953, where his team defeated England twice. On May 23, 1954, he opened an account in a match with the English, and Hungary won with a score of 7: 1. He then helped Hungary reach the finals of the 1954 World Cup . In the final stage of the World Cup, he played all five matches of Hungary, scoring a goal in the first match against South Korea , which Hungary defeated with a score of 9: 0, and in the quarterfinal meeting against the national team of Brazil .
