Biography

Everaldo Marquez da Silva, better known as Everaldo, began his career in 1957 as a youth member of the Gremio football club from his hometown of Porto Alegre , Rio Grande do Sul State . In 1964, the 20-year-old Everaldo got into the main team of Gremio, but did not consolidate at the base, and in 1965 went to Juventude from the city of Caxias do Sul in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. A year later, Everaldo returned to Gremio and became an integral player in the club’s defense. For 9 years, Everaldo played for Gremio, becoming a four-time champion of the state of Rio Grande do Sul .

For the national team of Brazil, Everaldo spent 24 matches. His debut took place on June 25, 1967 in a match against Uruguay . Everaldo participated in the 1970 World Cup, Everaldo played 5 matches at the World Championship (415 minutes spent on the field), including the final match in which his team defeated Italy 4-1, the match was held at Aztec Stadium at 107 Thousands of viewers June 21, 1970. The last match for the national team Everaldo held April 26, 1972 against the national team of Paraguay .

On October 27, 1974, Everaldo, 30, was returning from a trip, near the city of Santa Cruz do Sul, his car got into a car accident, a day later, on October 28, Everaldo Marquez da Silva died from his injuries.
