Scholar and Priest

Velazio De Paolis was born on September 19, 1935 , in Sonnino , in the province of Lazio , Italy . Velazio De Paolis joined the Congregation of Saint Charles Missionaries on October 4, 1958 . [3]

Velazio De Paolis was sent to Rome to complete his studies, he received his doctorate in canon law at the Faculty of Canon Law at the Pontifical Gregorian University , a licensee in theology at the Faculty of Theology at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas , and a degree in law from the University of Rome La Sapienza . De Paolis was ordained a priest on March 18, 1961 in this congregation, and taught canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. [four]

Since 1971, Velazio De Paolis served as professor of canon law at the Faculty of Canon Law at the Pontifical Gregorian University, in 1980 as a professor and since 1983 . Bishop

On April 12, 2008, Benedict XVI elevated Velazio De Paolis to the rank of archbishop [3] and named him chairman of the Prefecture of Economic Affairs of the Holy See [6] , (some correspondents say that this role is the Minister of Finance of the Vatican ) replacing Cardinal Sergio Sebastiani, who has reached the maximum canonical age . As chairman, he essentially serves as the chief auditor of the Vatican .

Cardinal

Statements
