Avash ^[1] ^[2] is a commercial city in central Ethiopia . It is the center of the administrative zone 3 and Vorada Awash-Fentalle.

The city is located on the river Avash , at an altitude of 875 m above sea level ^[3] .

Population

According to the Central Statistical Agency , in 2005 the population of Avash was 11,053 people , of which 5,748 were men and 5,305 were women ^[4] . According to the 1994 census, the city’s population numbered 8,684 people .

Transportation

The Addis Ababa - Djibouti railway passes through the city.

Attractions

Not far from Avash there is the Avash National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site .
