Biography
Claudia Black was born and raised in Sydney , Australia . She graduated from the Kambala Girls School in Sydney. She spent most of her life in Australia , North America and New Zealand .
Career
By the age of 18, Claudia was a professional theater actress, participating in performances of various troupes, including from the famous Australian troupe Belvoir Street Theater . In 1990, with the role of Portia in Shakespeare's play The Venetian Merchant , she became a finalist at the Globe Shakespeare Competition .
Appearing on the screen in 1993, the actress mainly starred in Australian films and television series.
For her role in the television series On the Edge of the Universe , Black was nominated for the Saturn Award as Best Television Actress in 2001 and 2002 , and won the award in 2005 .
In 2000, Claudia starred in one of the main roles in the movie "The Black Hole " with Vin Diesel , and in 2002 - in the supporting role in the movie " Queen of the Damned " based on the book by writer Anne Rice . In 2004, she joined the cast of the SG-1 Stargate television series, first as a guest actress, and then as a regular member.
In 2007, Claudia was invited to the role of Jennifer Conover in the television series " Life " on NBC . But later, due to the pregnancy of the actress, the pilot episode with Claudia was re-shot, and the role went to actress Jennifer Seebel .
Claudia also acts as a professional classical and jazz singer and, thanks to her unusual voice, often participates in dubbing, in particular, in scoring video games. In 2004, during the filming of the mini-series "On the Edge of the Universe: War of Peacekeepers," Claudia got married. The first child, a boy, was born in December 2005 . According to Michael Shanks , her partner in the SG-1 Stargate series, Claudia's second son was born in November 2007 .
