Olympics of the peoples of the USSR

The Games of the peoples of the USSR are mass sports competitions in the USSR in 1956-1991. Two types of Games of the peoples of the USSR were held: the summer games of the peoples of the USSR, as a rule, were organized in the pre-Olympic year [1] , and the winter games of the peoples of the USSR — two years before the Olympic Games .

Summer Games of the USSR Peoples

The 1st Summer Games of the Peoples of the USSR was held in the Olympic year 1956. Subsequent summer Games of the peoples of the USSR were organized in the pre-Olympic year, with the exception of the 9th Summer Games of the Peoples of the USSR, which was held in 1986. A total of ten summer Games of the peoples of the USSR were held [2]

  • The 2nd Summer Games of the Peoples of the USSR , the final competitions in Moscow - August 1959 ;
  • III Summer Games of the peoples of the USSR , the final competition in Moscow - August 1963 ;
  • The 4th Summer Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR , the final competition in Moscow - July - August 1967 ;
  • V Summer Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR , final competitions - July 1971 ;
  • The 6th Summer Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR , the final competition - March - July 1975 ;
  • VII Summer Games of the peoples of the USSR , the final competition - in 1979 ;
  • VIII Summer Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR , final competitions - May – August 1983 ;
  • 9th Summer Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR , final competitions - June-September 1986 ;
  • The 10th Summer Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR , the final competition - March - September 1991 .

Winter Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR

Held 1 time in 4 years in 1962-90. (except 1970). In total, 7 winter sports competitions of the peoples of the USSR were held. [2]

  • The Second Winter Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR , the final competitions in Sverdlovsk, Gorky, Terskol and Kiev - March 1966 [4] ;
  • III Winter Games of the peoples of the USSR , the final competition in Sverdlovsk - March 1974 ;
  • The 4th Winter Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR , the final competition in Sverdlovsk - March 1978 ;
  • V Winter Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR , final competitions in Krasnoyarsk - March 4 - 16, 1982 ;
  • VI Winter Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR , the final competition in Krasnoyarsk - February 24 - March 11, 1986 ;
  • VII Winter Games of the peoples of the USSR , the final competition in Kiev - 1990 .
