He studied at the Vienna Conservatory under Hans Graf and Dieter Weber , then interned at the Moscow Conservatory under Vera Gornostaeva . Since 1984 , he has performed as a soloist, and in the same year founded the Vienna Schubert Trio. After the dissolution of the trio in 1993 , he founded a new ensemble - the Altenberg Trio , which has been performing since January 1994 , having won international recognition and a number of prizes. In 1976 - 1986 taught at the Vienna Conservatory, later, along with colleagues at the Altenberg Trio, gives regular master classes in Vienna and other higher musical educational institutions. Schuster is also the artistic director of the International Brahms Festival in Mürtsuschlag .
