A relational database is a database based on a relational data model .
The concept of "relational" is based on the English. relation (" attitude , dependence, connection").
The use of relational databases was proposed by Dr. Codd of IBM in 1970 .
To work with relational databases, relational DBMSs are used.

Normalization
The goal of normalizing a relational database is to eliminate the deficiencies of the database structure, leading to redundancy, which, in turn, potentially leads to various anomalies and violations of data integrity.
Theorists of relational databases in the development of the theory have identified and described typical examples of redundancy and ways to eliminate them.
