Seasons
Season 1 (2003)
The first season of “Kochav Nolad” was held from May to August 2003. It was made in conjunction with the earlier Israeli television program, "We Will Not Stop Singing," which has been on since 2002. After this first joint season, Kochav Nolad was launched separately as an independent show in 2004. Its finale took place on August 28, 2003 on Nitsanim Beach in front of a live audience of 7000 people. The judges of the finals were Israeli composer and producer Roni Brown and singer Izhar Ashdot. The first place was taken by Ninet Tayeb with the song “ Yam Shel Dma'ot ” (“Sea of Tears”), receiving 49.3% of the vote. Shiri Maimon with the song " Don Quixote " took second place after receiving 28.2% of the vote. Shay Gabso took third place with 22.5% of the audience after performing the song “ Esh ” (“Fire”). In the semifinals, the first place was taken by Skaat, and Moyal got the second place. Therefore, given the results of surveys conducted on certain sites that showed that Harel Skaat would win, many were surprised when he did not. There was a dispute over the voting in the final, beginning with the allegations that the production company had falsified the results, and ending with the allegations that voters used the software to send more votes for their candidate than was allowed by the program rules (it was allowed to send 250 votes to the apparatus) . The staff denied all of these allegations, and on Thursday, August 19, a small demonstration of about 20 Skaat fans took place in front of Keshet’s offices. Demonstrators demanded that they investigate the claims and recount the votes. Keshet Media Group said the case was investigated and no violations were found.
