Biography
Narsiso Isa Conde was born on November 28, 1942 in the city of San Francisco de Macoris . He took an active part in the student movement , was the secretary of the Federation of Dominican students , editor-in-chief of the youth newspaper “Fragua”.
In 1962 he joined the Dominican People’s Socialist Party . In 1964 he was elected to the Central Committee of the Dominican Communist Party, and since 1966 - its Secretary General. He participated in an armed uprising against the dictatorship of Trujillo , and then - in armed resistance to the American occupation ( 1965 - 1966 ).
After that, for several years he was in an illegal situation . He left the country in 1970 to avoid persecution by the regime of Joaquin Balaguer (1966-1978), but returned in 1973 and hid until he publicly demanded two years to investigate and punish the killers of opposition journalist-communist Orlando Martinez. In 1975, he again had to return to exile, although this time only for a few months.
In 1978 , 1982 , 1986, he was nominated as a candidate for president of the country - and for the first time, at the age of 35, he was the youngest participant in the election race.
Narsiso Isa Conde advocates the unification of the left forces of the Dominican Republic . In 1983, he initiated the creation of the Dominican Left Front, which, in addition to the DKP, included a number of factions of Marxist orientation; then he participated in the creation of the “Power of the Revolution” ( Fuerza de la Revolución ) party, but in 2006 left it because of disagreement with the rest of the national leadership, which he accused, inter alia, of unequal treatment of women in internal party democracy.
He is the author of 20 books on the history , theory and practice of the revolutionary and national liberation movement in the Dominican Republic. Repeatedly visited the USSR . An active participant in international seminars in Latin America , a close friend of Kiva Maydanika [1] .
