Born in Kharkov . Graduate of the Kharkov State Higher School of Physical Education No. 1 and the Kharkov State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports , a graduate of the Kommunar IC [1] . He plays for Dynamo from Kharkov (Ukraine), trains with Lyudmila Prokopenko .
Since August 2008, Senior Lieutenant of the State Border Service of Ukraine .
Divorced, has a son Roman and a daughter Maria.

2004 Olympic Games
Bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 as part of the Ukrainian national team in archery. He won his first match in the 32nd round, the second match in the 16th, and in the third match he lost to Englishman Lawrence Godfrey.
2008 Olympic Games
2008 Olympic champion in Beijing , won the third gold medal of the Ukrainian team . He started the tournament with the victory over Egyptian Meged Youssef - 111: 96. In 1/16 finals defeated Australian Michael Naray - 115: 105. In 1/8 beat Pole Jacek Proc - 114: 108. In the quarterfinals he defeated Japanese Ryuichi Moria - 115: 106. And in the semifinals won the Russian Bair Badenova - 112: 112 (tiebreak - 20:18). In the finals of the competition, Victor Ruban won the Korean Park Kyun Mo with a score of 113: 112.
